While traveling south on [XXX] into [XXX] at approximately 60mph, the moonroof on our 2019 Honda CR-V spontaneously exploded outward, raining glass into the air and the road behind us. There was also a considerable amount of glass which fell onto both me as the driver, my passenger, and into the unoccupied back seat. There was no external object that hit the glass from either outside the vehicle or from the inside. It is my understanding that this is a known problem in Honda vehicles beginning in 2015 and continuing for several years. Note this article from XXX of this year published in the New York Post: [XXX] It is also my understanding that Honda has not to date issued a recall, even though this has been a known issue for several years. The noise and force of the explosion, with the resulting rushing sound of air into the vehicle could very likely cause a driver to erratically react and lose control of the vehicle. The steering wheel is glitchy. Caused by electronic steering module. Honda has recall for this in newer models. It’s a problem with 2019 as well. Very dangerous and likely to cause a wreck. It is happening every time we drive. Steering sticks.

Steering wheel is glitchy and sticky when changing lanes or turning. Feels stuck at times. Dangerous to operate. Suspect same issue in existing recalls for other years of Honda CR-V. The 2029 needs to be added to this safety recall (gearbox etc?). You have other reports in file from 2029 owners. It’s time to take this seriously and make official recall.

I was driving about 20-25 mph. There was absolutely nothing in front of me and my car came to a dead stop, the brake warning light came up on the screen and I hit my head off the steering wheel. Then the warning went away and I drove the last 2 minutes home.

To Whom It May Concern, While driving and when at red light or just putting it in park my 2019 Honda CR-V AWD EX, multiple warning lights suddenly illuminated on the dashboard, including the Check Engine Light, VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist), TPMS, and Collision Mitigation System. This has occurred multiple times and appears to be a well-documented issue among other Honda CR-V owners. To shop and they said it was the speed sensor got repaired and light so came back on. Took to the dealer and they diagnosed a faulty fuel injector system (Code P0172 – System Too Rich) and recommended a full injector replacement. This issue matches known cases addressed under Honda TSB 19-072, but is not currently covered under a full recall. The sudden illumination of all warning lights, combined with reduced power, is a serious safety concern as it may cause loss of control or delayed response in critical traffic situations. We have been quoted between $1,200 and $2,500 to repair this issue, which is a significant expense for a defect Honda is already aware of. I believe this is a manufacturing defect that should be fully covered by Honda, along with any related systems affected by this issue. I own a 2019 Honda CR-V and have repeatedly experienced brake-system warning lights, starting problems, a hard brake pedal and unexpected braking/deceleration. I repeatedly reported these concerns to East Coast Honda, asked them to inspect the brakes, and showed photos/videos of warning lights, but many of my complaints were not documented on my repair orders. While driving, my vehicle unexpectedly braked/decelerated when there was no vehicle immediately in front of me, causing me to hit a curb. This was in July. On 9/16/26 at 52,113 miles, East Coast Honda finally documented that the electric parking brake warning was going on/off while driving along with the brake-system and battery lights. They found DTC U3003-16, Brake Booster Control Unit Power Circuit Low Voltage, and replaced the electric brake booster. During the same repair, the dealer performed a Honda CMBS software update. Their repair order states that American Honda identified an ADAS/CMBS software condition in which “unexpected vehicle deceleration may occur.” After the brake-booster repair, the vehicle was returned to me. It then would not start and the brake pedal became extremely hard, leaving my young son and me stranded. The dealer documented that the battery FAILED testing and replaced it under warranty again. This is my second battery in less than 2 years. I am concerned that the underlying brake/electrical safety defect has not been resolved. The vehicle is available for inspection. I have repair orders, photos, videos and voicemail evidence documenting these problems.

STEERING

I an experiencing "sticky steering" notably at freeway speeds on warmer days. The steering wheel will catch when I attempt lane corrections and suddenly release with a small clunk causing the vehicle to lurch in the direction of the steer. I see that 2022-2024 Honda CRVs are covered under a recall for "sticky steering" but not the 2018-2021 model years even though there is the same problem as evidenced by numerous complaints on the Honda forum. Can Honda be persuaded to include these earlier model CRVs experiencing the same problem? Luckily I have an Honda Motor Company extended warranty which I hope will cover the cost of repairs as this is an unsafe situation, especially for my petite wife.

This supplements Complaint #11763145, filed 9/9/2026, regarding the same vehicle: 2019 Honda CR-V. On September 10, 2026 at approximately 7:33 PM, near CHOP Primary Care (High Point location), PA, the check engine light began flashing and the vehicle lost the ability to accelerate -- it could only slow down. I pulled over and restarted the engine, after which it drove normally. This is a repeat of the loss-of-acceleration incident described in the original complaint from September 8, 2026, which also involved a flashing check engine light and complete loss of acceleration while driving.

I am submitting this complaint regarding a recurring issue with my 2019 Honda CR-V 1.5T AWD EX in which numerous warning/error lights appear simultaneously on the dashboard. I previously brought the vehicle to Brookdale Honda, an authorized Honda dealership in Minnesota, specifically because multiple dashboard warning lights had appeared. The dealership scanned the vehicle and documented diagnostic trouble code P0172 ("Fuel System Too Rich"). An air/fuel test was performed, and the dealership diagnosed failing fuel injectors. Based on Honda's diagnosis and recommendation, I authorized replacement of the fuel injectors and spark plugs. The fuel injector repair alone was approximately $1,790. During the same service visit, Honda also performed the applicable fuel-pump safety recall repair. I relied on the authorized Honda dealership's diagnosis and understood that the problem responsible for the warning lights had been corrected. Unfortunately, the same concerning condition has now returned, with numerous warning lights again appearing on the dashboard. My vehicle has fewer than 100,000 miles and has consistently been serviced through authorized Honda dealerships. I am concerned that this recurring condition may indicate an underlying defect rather than normal maintenance. Having numerous vehicle-system warnings appear simultaneously is also concerning from a safety perspective because a driver may not be able to determine which warnings represent an immediate safety problem. I am asking NHTSA to document this complaint and evaluate whether other 2019 Honda CR-V 1.5T owners have reported similar occurrences involving multiple dashboard warnings, P0172/fuel-system conditions, or fuel injector failures. I can provide the original Honda diagnosis and repair invoices, proof of repair, and photographs showing the recurring dashboard warnings.

On March 13, 2026 the Honda CRV was being driven at approximately 65 mph when the check engine lights came on due to the low and high pressure fuel pumps failing simultaneously causing the CRV to slow suddenly to approximately 25 mph. The incident almost caused vehicles behind the CRV to collide with the rear of the CRV. The CRV was towed to a Honda dealership where it was diagnosed as the fuel pump issues. The fuel pumps were replaced and I paid the repair bill (1,702.33). On March 21, 2026 the check engine lights came on again when the fuel injectors failed. The CRV was driven to the same Honda dealership where it was diagnosed as the fuel injector issue. The fuel injectors were replaced and Honda did not charge me for the repairs.

Mutiple times on highway driving of 2 hours, the active grille shutter system appears to fail, causing the vehicle to lose the ability to accelerate at speeds needed for safe highway driving. This typically occurs after 2 hours of highway driving and remains in place for the duration of the drive. This does not occur during normal driving or even highway drives of less than 90 minutes. My mechanic has inspected and suspects this might be a computer programming issue because the grills appear to work correctly under normal condition. This has occured for a couple of years and creates acceleration difficulty on the highway (for passing or merging).

This emergency brake happened multiple times during crossing train tracks. I’m not sure if the sensor was capturing anything there but the car stopped immediately. Two incidents occurred in the same street and was after the traffic light turned green. Two times I had vehicles behind me but thankfully nothing happened. I monitored the incident then it happened again crossing another train tracks. One time just happened while driving, I didn’t have no cars around me but the car just started breaking on me.

2019 Honda CR-V, VIN [XXX], approximately 82,000 miles. Since new, the vehicle has intermittently displayed a "Christmas tree" warning — most or all dashboard warning lights illuminate simultaneously — with no consistent trigger (not tied to weather, cold starts, road type, or time of day). Over approximately the last two months this has escalated from occasional to daily, sometimes twice daily. On XXX at approximately 9:00 AM, while driving on [XXX] near [XXX] heading toward [XXX], the check engine light began flashing and the vehicle lost the ability to accelerate — it could only slow down. I activated my hazard/turn signals and slowly pulled over. I shut the engine off; restarting it resolved the issue and the vehicle drove normally afterward. Both an independent mechanic and a Honda dealer have inspected the vehicle multiple times and pulled diagnostic codes, and neither has identified a definitive cause; the independent mechanic has stated repeatedly that this requires Honda's direct involvement. I first contacted Honda corporate about this recurring issue in 2022. NHTSA's VIN lookup shows no unrepaired recalls on this VIN as of XXX. The steering on my 2019 Honda CRV is sticking at highway speeds. When making micro corrections to stay in my lane I experienced resistance or sticking of the steering wheel causing me to use a slight force to overpower the wheel, which then causes jerking of the wheel and vehicle. This could cause an increase in the likelihood of a crash and causing injury. This started happening in XXX and XXX while traveling from [XXX] to [XXX] and back, for a total of 3000 miles. There were no warning lights. The car only has 52,600 miles on it. My car is at the Honda dealership in [XXX] today, XXX. They are trying to replicate the issue. There is a recall on the 2023-2025 Honda CRV for this issue, but not for the 2019, although this same problem has been and is being reported across other years. While driving on a winding, two-lane rural mountain highway, I came up behind a slower vehicle. When a designated passing lane opened up, I pulled out to overtake them. The driver ahead safely slowed way down to let me pass, so I applied normal, moderate acceleration to complete the maneuver.Mid-way through the pass, the vehicle suddenly suffered a catastrophic loss of motive power and entered "Limp Mode." Simultaneously, the entire dashboard lit up frantically with warning alerts indicating that virtually every Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) had failed.The vehicle lost nearly all forward momentum and would barely move. Because of the immediate power loss, I spent a grueling half-mile struggling to find a safe place to pull off the roadway. I was forced to come to a stop on a highly dangerous, blind mountain corner. On a highway where traffic routinely travels at 55 mph or faster, being stranded at a dead stop around a blind curve placed me in imminent danger of a severe, high-speed rear-end collision. Safety Concern & Product Defect:While the vehicle's programming forces "Limp Mode" to protect the mechanical components of the engine, the real-world execution of this feature creates an extreme, life-threatening hazard. Cutting power entirely during routine highway maneuvers—such as passing or merging onto a 65 mph freeway—renders the driver helpless. Rather than preventing damage, this defect actively creates a high-probability scenario for a fatal high-speed accident. Honda's safety systems should not prioritize engine preservation over human life. After thoroughly researching this specific failure pattern, the evidence strongly indicates that the root cause is premature fuel injector failure—an issue that is heavily documented as a common defect in this specific engine layout.This component should not be failing at this stage in the vehicle's lifespan. My husband is a certified mechanic and meticulously maintains all of our personal vehicles!

While driving with my 3yr old in the car multiple dashboard warning lights suddenly illuminated simultaneously (including the Check Engine light, Emissions system warning, and various safety sensor alerts). The vehicle experienced a sudden loss of engine power, rough idling, and hesitation upon acceleration, which created an immediate traffic hazard. I took the vehicle to an authorized Honda dealership service center. The diagnostic scan revealed a failure of the fuel injectors (with diagnostic trouble codes indicating a system too rich and cylinder misfires). The dealership service advisor informed me that this premature fuel injector failure is a highly common and widespread systemic defect with Honda’s 1.5L Turbo direct-injection engines, stating that their shop actively stocks these parts because they perform at least one of these replacements every week. This premature component failure at mileage (105,136 miles) is a severe safety risk that causes unexpected engine stalling or power loss while driving.

Car automatically hit the brakes for no apparent reason while going at 45 mph. There was no vehicle or any kind of obstacle ahead of behind. Also resulted in tightening of driver seat belt. No injuries. Vehicle was being operated by an authorized and licensed driver.

The steering wheel sticks. Used to be very smooth but the last few months it stick in one place and often makes a clicking sound when stopped.

While driving my 2019 Honda CR-V across railroad tracks, the vehicle displayed a BRAKE warning and automatically applied the brakes even though there was no vehicle, person, train, or other obstruction in front of me. The braking occurred while I was crossing the railroad tracks and caused the vehicle to slow unexpectedly. I did not intentionally apply the brakes. I am concerned that the Collision Mitigation Braking System/automatic emergency braking activated falsely and could create a safety hazard, especially at a railroad crossing.

My car dilutes oil or burns it up and I constantly have to put oil in. Its been like that since year 4 of my owning my brand new car. The oil can be completely gone and it doesnt tell me. My warning lights have never worked to tell me its empty or low. There was a noise coming from my glove box and my ac stopped working. There a recall for it but they told me im not a part of it except the part they told me is broken is the same part for the recall and my car is the same year, just my Vin doesnt count. They want me to pay over 1000 to fix but I refuse to. Passenger window has been messed up and freezes goes up a little then stops over amd over til.its up since I bought the car

The vehicle developed an intermittent crank/no-start condition and later stalled after being driven home. An independent repair facility diagnosed the vehicle before it was taken to Honda and documented no fuel pressure at the fuel rail and diagnostic trouble code P0087 for low fuel pressure. The shop advised that Honda has a known fuel-pump issue and recommended that the vehicle be taken to a Honda dealer for recall-related repair. The vehicle was then towed to a Honda dealer. The dealer also determined that the fuel pump requires replacement. The dealer advised that the fuel pump had previously been replaced under Honda's 2021 fuel-pump recall. Honda has now denied another recall-related repair based on the dealer's claim that water is present in the fuel. I requested objective testing to document the alleged water contamination and its relationship to the pump failure. The dealer provided a photograph of cloudy fuel but did not provide a quantitative water-content test. I was told that the dealership's master technician determined that the sample contained water. The vehicle has approximately 53,700 miles. The replacement fuel pump has failed with symptoms consistent with loss of fuel pressure, including intermittent no-start and vehicle stalling. The independent shop's P0087/no-fuel-pressure diagnosis was made before the vehicle was taken to Honda. I am concerned that replacement fuel pumps installed during Honda's prior fuel-pump recall may be experiencing subsequent failures that can cause engine stalling or prevent vehicles from starting.

STEERING

When turning left, steering fails to correct to neutral, resulting in the driver having to force the vehicle to the right to maintain a straight path. Steering wheel sticks. Honda dealership confirmed the issue and problem needed steering gearbox replacement. Issue is related to recalls in other SAME MODEL vehicles, however was not the SAME YEAR.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

I was driving at 70mph on the highway when the dashboard started to display a series of problem notifications (Brake Problem, Hill Start Problem, Power Steering Problem…, etc.). The vehicle also went into “limp mode” and slowed down to 35-40mph max. This was very dangerous given the other traffic going 70+ mph on a very busy highway. Thankfully, we were able to pull over to the shoulder and bring it to a nearby car repair shop. Based on the diagnostics, they determined that the high-pressure fuel pump had failed. They are charging us more than $1300 to fix it.

STEERING

While driving at highway speeds (approx. 55–70 mph) in a straight line, the vehicle's electronic power steering experiences a dangerous 'binding' or 'sticky' sensation. The steering wheel feels momentarily caught or locked into place when attempting to make minor lane corrections. Breaking the steering wheel free requires a sudden application of manual force, which causes the vehicle to jerk or momentarily overcorrect. This mirrors the exact safety hazard and mechanical defect outlined in NHTSA Recall Campaign 24V-744. Although my vehicle is a 2019 model year and technically excluded from the current 2022–2025 recall scope, it is experiencing the identical manufacturing flaw involving excessive internal friction within the electronic power steering gearbox assembly.

I Have notchy and sticky steering situation with this vehicle since approximately 60000 miles, vehicle has now approximately 96000 miles.The vehicle will almost over correct in a curve on interstate, almost feels like steering is stuck and you -must add to much pressure to turn it. I have been to dealership and they say I need a new steering rack. Honda doesn’t have a recall on this year model (2019) like other models. The dealership told me to file a complaint with the NHTSA. They said Honda is very , very , very aware of the issues with this model. Because his dealership has had several 2019 CRV s with this same issue and Honda has refused to recall it. Dealership said if enough people would contact NHTSA then Honda may do something. But right now I will have to pay the $4700 to fix it.

"sticky steering" - After turning the steering wheel a few degrees to the left, there is some resistance when turning it back to the center. It happens mostly at highway speeds, and happens more in hot weather. The safety issue is that it makes it harder to keep a straight course on the highway because the small adjustments a driver normally makes are more difficult. And, when overcoming resistance to turn the wheel back to center, it is easy to overcorrect and turn the wheel too far to the right.

Fuel pump failure 2019 Honda CRV. Confirmed at a shop to be the problem but unsure if it's the high or low pressure pump. The car stalled out in an intersection and we had to roll out of the road to safety.

The contact stated that the vehicle stalled while driving out of a car wash. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer and was restarted. The vehicle was diagnosed and determined that the battery and fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 30,422.

2019 Honda CR-V, 74,429 miles. Steering wheel exhibits stickiness/notchiness when turning or making slight corrections and does not return to center on its own. Matches other CR-V owner reports of "sticky steering," the subject of an NHTSA investigation/recall on related model years and Honda/Acura platforms sharing the same EPS rack/gearbox. COMPONENT: Electric power steering (EPS) rack/steering column is suspected. Vehicle is in my possession and available for inspection upon request. RISK: Steering failing to self-center, plus intermittent stickiness during turns/corrections, risks needing sudden extra force to move the wheel, which could cause overcorrection and loss of control, especially at highway speed or during lane changes. DEALER CONFIRMATION: Honda Lisle, ILtest drove the vehicle on 7/22/26 and verbally confirmed notchiness. He later left a voicemail stating the only fix is full power steering rack replacement, verbally quoted at $5,500. Nothing was documented in writing on the repair order; no diagnostic findings or formal quote provided despite my request. OTHER INSPECTIONS: Vehicle was at Honda Lisle, IL on 7/22/26 for an unrelated grille-shutter code that set off all of the dash lights. No inspection by police, insurance, or other parties. WARNING LAMPS/MESSAGES: None. No dashboard warnings appeared. Symptom noticed during normal driving.

No warning light was illuminated. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed; however, the result was unknown. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.

While driving, most noticeable at highway speeds and after 30 or more minutes, especially during hot temperatures, the steering wheel experiences sudden momentary binding,sticking, or catching when making small lane corrections. It requires a distinct, manual force to break the wheel free from this sticky point. This resistance frequently results in an abrupt over correction, causing the vehicle to jerk within the lane. This frightening unpredictable behavior creates an immediate, severe safety hazard for myself and other drivers on the road. This is a constant daily driving issue and would appreciate a investigation into this and be assigned a registered complaint reference number. Warnings were all at once and included, Emissions system problem, braking problem, power steering problem, collision mitigation system problem, electric parking brake problem and many others. Honda mechanic stated this is a very known problem with 2019 CRV and it’s the fuel injectors and head gasket.

STEERING

The steering gearbox failed. Once we have the car fixed we will be able to submit the part if needed. Yes, our safety and the safety of others was very much at risk. We were told the steering could have binded at any moment, leaving the wheel completely stuck in place. This would likely have resulted in a very serious crash. Yes, the vehicle had a diagnostic ran at a Honda dealership. There were no warning lights at all.

FUEL SYSTEM · GASOLINE

The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated and started flashing. The vehicle started to decelerate, and the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The vehicle was towed to a dealer and was diagnosed with a high-pressure fuel pump failure. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 133,178.

POWER TRAIN · FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

7-16-26, I was driving on the highway. All the warning lights on the dash lit up. The car dropped down to 20 miles per hour. I tried to speed up, but could not. It is experiencing an extended crank, sever stuttering and engine stalling. It has actively thrown code P0087 for low fuel rail pressure. An independent service center confirmed the code P0087. The dealership performed diagnostic test and confirmed code P0087. The component was part of recall: 21V-215. There were no other warning lamps, messages or symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. My car is currently at the dealership because Honda has denied the claim. I have a 3 day free loaner from the dealership. I have escalated to Honda Corp. I will need a car for longer than 3 days while I wait for the escalations department to make a final decision.

ENGINE · FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Multiple times when stopped at a stop light, the vehicle will stall and die. Car requires restarting ignition to run. A mechanic believes it is the fuel injector system (either defective or worn) that is causing these stall issues. This is a safety problem as I was almost hit several times by other cars on the road.

STEERING

The steering started glitching in December 2025. The steering became increasingly difficult and did not respond normally, causing concern that I could lose the ability to control the vehicle. Because steering is essential to maintaining control of a vehicle, I believe this failure created a serious risk of a crash, injury or death. The problem has been inspected and confirmed by Walsh Honda in Macon, Georgia. There were not warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem before December 2025. My car is still at Walsh Honda awaiting repair. The costs is $5,195. The car only has 43,000 miles on it.

STEERING

I am submitting this complaint regarding a steering system defect on my 2019 Honda CR-V, which currently has fewer than 55,000 miles. Over the past few weeks, I have been experiencing a grinding/creaking noise when turning the steering wheel, particularly during low-speed right turns and when the steering wheel is turned while reversing. The noise also occurs occasionally steering forward and has become progressively louder and more frequent. In addition to the noise, the steering wheel intermittently catches or sticks while driving straight and then making a slight steering correction and also when turning in a fixed position. When this occurs, the steering wheel requires noticeably more force than normal to move, especially to the right. This creates inconsistent steering feel and raises concerns about vehicle control and safety. I had the vehicle inspected by my mechanic, who diagnosed the issue as a defective steering rack worm gear. Based on this diagnosis, the recommended repair is replacement of the complete steering rack assembly. Given the relatively low mileage of this vehicle and the potential safety implications of intermittent steering binding, I believe this represents a defect in the steering system that should be investigated.

SERVICE BRAKES · FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

While driving at about the speed of 45 miles/hr. the car abruptly braked in the middle of the road without any vehicle or object in front of me. It was a scary situation because if there had been a car behind me, my car would have been rear-ended. This problem has neither been reproduced nor investigated by anyone. I have, in the past, noticed that occasionally the brake light on the dashboard would flash for a second and go off but did not affect motion or speed. I have not received any warning messages regarding the vehicle's brakes.

POWER TRAIN · UNKNOWN OR OTHER · ENGINE

Vehicle is a 2019 Honda CR-V (1.5L Turbo) experiencing an active internal mechanical failure—suspected collapsing/sticking piston rings bypassing the combustion chamber, resulting in severe, unmeasured oil consumption. The dealership (Wesley Chapel Honda) filled the engine with new oil and refuses to perform an internal diagnostic teardown or provide a safe alternative vehicle. Instead, they are advising me to operate this vehicle for an additional 2,000 miles to complete a corporate "consumption test" to prove the defect for warranty authorization. Operating a vehicle with a known, rapid, and erratic oil depletion defect for thousands of miles presents a severe, immediate safety hazard to my family and others on the road. If the engine oil drops below critical operating levels unexpectedly between manual checks, the engine faces an immediate risk of catastrophic metal-on-metal friction, thermal expansion, and sudden engine seizure at highway speeds. This creates an extreme driving liability, including an instantaneous loss of all motive power, a sudden loss of vital power steering and power braking assist (making the vehicle incredibly heavy and difficult to control or maneuver safely to a shoulder), and a high risk of an engine bay fire due to intense friction and fluid ignition. This is a known issue that I presented to them in March. At that time the PCV valve was replaced along with new spark plugs. The problem continues to persist. This matter is actively documented with Honda Corporate under Case #16466779. A manufacturer protocol should not supersede passenger safety by forcing the prolonged operation of a defective vehicle. The dealership has advised that this is a known issue with the 2019 Honda CRV with piston rings failing. This needs to be made public and a recall for Honda to fix.
