ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

MY LOCAL DODGE DEALER INFROMED ME THAT MY OIL PAN NEEDS REPLACED WHEN I TOOK TRUCK IN FOR NORMAL ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. A $1700.00 REPAIR AND MY 2019 DODGE RAM BIGHORN TRUCK WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS IS A SAFTEY HAZZARD THAT DODGE SHOULD BE RESPONISBLE FOR ON A 6 YEAR OLD TRUCK WITH ONLY 90,000 MILES ON IT. A RUSTED OIL PAN CAN CAUSE SUDDEN OIL LOSS AND ENGINE FAILURE, WHICH MAKES IT A SAFETY CONCERN.

ENGINE

The vehicle loses power unexpectedly without triggering a MIF indicator or logging a OBDII diagnostic code. The problem is the crankshaft position sensor temporarily fails causing the vehicle to stall, in my case, in stop and go traffic, which caused an accident. Once the 'Heat Soak' effect passes, the vehicle start and drives normally again. The fix, to preventing it from happening again and solving the heat soak problem, is to replace the crankshaft position sensor with an OEM part which is less susceptible to the ambient heat (heat soak) due the proximity to the exhaust manifold. And, to have the software in the PCM 'Flashed' or upgraded to allow for a greater signal tolerance from the crankshaft position sensor. The problem and fix where confirmed by Auto-Nation Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, [XXX], where I purchased the OEM part and had their service department 'Flash' the PCM for the software upgrade. The service department and the parts clerk agreed that TSB 18-020-26 applied, dated XXX. Upon further research I discovered a recall report: 18v-049 Part 573 Safety recall report. It is proof FCA US LLC (Manufacturer of my 2019 Dodge RAM 1500 Classic) knew about the problem with the Pentastar 3.6L engine. The same 3.6L engine in the recall. Or, they should have know about the potential problem. Although my vehicle was not part of the 18v-049 recall, it has the same 3.6L engine and exhibited the same engineering shortcomings as the recalled engine? As a concerned citizen I felt compelled to bring the public safety problem to your attention, even though I feel I am not the only one who has complained about the problem. And, because I feel strongly about this, I am planning to file suite in small claim court against the manufacture: FCA US LLC. I would like to update your office with a copy of the filing as soon as I am issued a court date. Thank you for your time and consideration. STRUCTURE

The sunvisors fall out of their brackets while driving, causing immediate loss of visibility. To be clear, it's not the bracket that's designed for the visor to pop in and out of. It’s the main bracket that holds the visor supposedly permanently in place. Both of mine have broken and fallen out so I know this is widespread and not just one bracket that randomly failed, not to mention the widespread documentation on the Internet of others having the same problem. This is a major safety issue due to how quickly the visit falls into the drivers vision, reducing visibility of the windshield by approximately 90%.

SERVICE BRAKES

The abs module has failed and the BRAKE, abs, and traction lights are constantly illuminated on the dash. The abs error code is C2200 and it describes that there is an internal abs module failure.

STEERING

Without any previous symptoms I lost power steering. A dash light came on with an exclamation point next to a steering wheel, and a message was displayed citing "Service Power Steering". Turning the car off and back on clears it, but it comes back at random. I do not always lose power steering, even when the light is on. This truck only has 70,000 miles on it.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The backup camera malfunctions, and glitches real bad half the time, and it sometimes happens while im using it at night. I feel like that could potentially be dangerous, and from a little research I have found that there are some recalls for this problem, but my truck isnt listed when I check the NHTSA. database.

SUSPENSION

While driving on the highway the truck lowered to aero mode as it should. After awhile it lowered to entry mode but still said that it was in aero mode on the dash. This caused the handling of the vehicle to become very hard. Once I pulled over and got out I noticed the truck was at a dangerous low level. I tried raising it and the I got the service air suspension warning.

ENGINE

My 2019 ram 1500 had the hemi tick sound. Took it in to the dealership to check and verified it was a failed lifter and had metal shavings inside the motor. Dealership said I needed a whole new engine costing around 18,000 dollars. They also refused to warranty it even though there was a bulletin on this specific issue. It had 113k when I brought it in. My certified pre owned warranty lasted until 100k but still didn’t want to warranty it. I went ahead and rebuilt the engine myself costing around 10k. Now I’m hearing clunking noise when I’m in a low gear taking off again around 20mph possibly my transmission now. Has 130k miles now.

AIR BAGS · WHEELS

While drive northbound on [XXX] departing [XXX] and entering [XXX], the rear passenger wheel snapped off of the truck carrying sing loss of control and the truck hit a concrete median damaging the the front driver’s side bumper and forcing it into the front driver’s side wheel flattening it. Upon colliding into the concrete median no airbags deployed. Myself as the driver suffered soft tissue damage to the neck, back and arms. My service dog was also in the truck but fortunately did not suffer any injury. Fortunately no other vehicles in either direction were involved. Upon getting the vehicle onto a crossroad ([XXX]), I went into the roadway to retrieve the rear passenger wheel and disc brake to avoid any dangers to other vehicles. At the time of the accident I was only able to obtain pictures of the passenger rear damage. I was taken to hospital before I could obtain the front bumper and driver’s side front wheel damage. An insurance adjuster has not provided a copy of their inspection. Additional photos and information will be provided upon receipt. ESC, ABS, BRAKE lights illuminated. ABS, ESC, Trailer Brake Controller, Cruise control disabled. Mechanic reports ABS Module failure. Nor repair parts available, parts backorder with no expected date.

I was driving with my family when I lost power steering and every warning light on my dash lit up. The truck then started lunging. The dealership came and picked up the truck. They told me the power steering control module on the rack and pinion failed sending a signal to the computer that everything failed at once, steering, shifting, traction control, temp gage, abs.... everything

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM · AIR BAGS · STRUCTURE

The cylinder that deploys the side curtain on the back passenger side spontaneously blew up in my truck. The vehicle was not currently being operated or on at the time is was parked in the driveway and was completely off. There was no forced entry and no collision it just spontaneously exploded causing roof damage, electrical damage, ceiling damage and cab light damage. The vehicle is currently parked at the dealership and has been verified by dealership that it was a mechanical malfunction with the airbag cylinder. There was no warnings that I was aware of before it exploded since it was just sitting in the driveway but from the information that was given to me by the dealerships this was an issue that fell under the Takata Airbag recalls in 2021. The only warning lights is when you start it up the airbag check system light is on the dashboard. This issue has caused me to never want to put my family in that truck again because thank god none of us were in it when it happened but this could have happened to anyone and thankfully we were not driving down the road or even in the vehicle at all. This is a major safety issue.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM · UNKNOWN OR OTHER · ENGINE

The 48-Volt Belt-Driven Hybrid Starter Generator / Motor Generator Unit (MGU / eTorque Alternator) suffered a catastrophic failure on my vehicle at approximately [Insert Mileage, e.g., 140,000] miles. The failure occurred while traveling out of state away from home, causing a sudden loss of vehicle charging, dashboard electrical errors ("Battery Saver Mode"), and creating an imminent threat of an engine stall in live traffic. Due to widespread manufacturer part backorders exceeding tens of thousands of units, my vehicle was forced to sit at a dealership until I could pay thousands of dollars out-of-pocket for a component that Ram has actively removed from newer production vehicles due to its high failure rate. This is a severe, systemic durability and safety issue affecting thousands of trucks. I am requesting that NHTSA force FCA/Stellantis to issue a safety recall and establish a retroactive reimbursement program for all owners who paid out-of-pocket for MGU replacements. I possess the official out-of-state dealership invoice and proof of payment.

STEERING

My truck's electric power steering (EPS) gets stuck in a left-hand turn and does not return to center. I have to physically turn the steering wheel to get it to return to center which causes the vehicle to over-steer, causes jerky movements and makes drives at highway speeds very unsafe. The steering system gets stuck mostly in a left-hand turn but less so in a right-hand turn. This appears to either be a faulty design of the EPS or faulty equipment, but either way, it is unsafe and should be recalled.

My 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel has recurring electrical/communication failures that occur every day. The truck repeatedly displays “ParkSense Temporarily Unavailable,” “Service Shifter,” “Service Tire Pressure System,” and “Tire Pressure Unavailable.” The ParkSense sensors often do not activate at all, leaving me without parking assistance while backing up. The system also repeatedly pings with warnings throughout the day. When “Service Shifter” appears, the truck shifts roughly and the transmission does not feel like it is shifting correctly. I am concerned this could indicate an electrical or communication problem affecting the electronic shifter, transmission operation, gear selection, or vehicle control. The truck also has an ongoing water leak around the rear window, including the upper portion and near the sliding window. The electrical problems appear worse during high humidity, although they have also occurred during winter. I am concerned that water intrusion could cause corrosion, electrical shorts, module damage, or other safety hazards. A reputable independent repair shop inspected the vehicle and identified a U-code communication fault. The problems continue to occur daily. I am concerned about the risk of a collision from losing ParkSense, potential transmission/gear-selection problems, and water-related electrical damage. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether these recurring failures represent a safety defect affecting 2019 Ram 1500 vehicles. The vehicle is available for inspection.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The exact failed component has not yet been identified. The malfunction appeared to involve the vehicle’s electrical, communication/network, ignition or starting system. The vehicle and its components remain available for inspection upon request. On Friday, August 21, 2026, while driving my 2019 RAM 1500 Classic Tradesman with approximately 108,320 miles, the vehicle’s electronics suddenly began behaving erratically. As I braked and slowed nearly to a stop, the engine shut off. Parts of the dashboard remained illuminated, but the engine would not crank or restart. After approximately one minute, the electronics returned to normal and the vehicle started again. The truck then operated for the remainder of the drive. This created a safety risk because the vehicle shut off unexpectedly while it was still moving and temporarily could not be restarted. A similar electrical shutdown occurred on February 13, 2026, when the displays flashed, the HVAC cycled, vehicle power was lost and the key became stuck. The vehicle restarted after approximately five to ten minutes during that incident. The current problem has not yet been reproduced, confirmed or diagnosed by a dealer or independent service center. To the best of my knowledge, it has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, an insurance representative or another organization. There was no advance warning before the electronics began malfunctioning during the August incident. The erratic electronics were the first symptom immediately before the shutdown. The dashboard remained partially illuminated during the no-crank period, but I do not recall the exact warning messages or lamps displayed. The vehicle’s VIN currently shows zero unrepaired safety recalls in NHTSA’s lookup.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Loss of power steering on 3 occasions. Currently undrivable due to not knowing when it will fail again. Dealership has confirmed the code is for power steering failure.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormally strong exhaust odor inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the exhaust manifold needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was concerned that the failure posed a safety risk due to the potential inhalation of carbon monoxide. Additionally, the contact stated that a previous model year vehicle that the contact owned was previously repaired due to the same failure. This has now happened 3 separate times. Once 1 month ago, my husband and I were on the connecting road from [XXX] toward [XXX] by the water plants stopped in traffic and the truck completely powered off at a red light. It took 30 seconds for the truck to power back on, and be restarted. It showed a check engine light the rest of the drive. The next time it turned on from being off there was no check engine light. Last week we were driving on a the main road toward our house going 30 miles per hour and coming up to a right turn then the truck stopped abruptly and died. It completely powered off and took 2 minutes to power back on. We were blocking a one lane road. It then showed a check engine light that went away after a few days. Today after getting ready to enter [XXX] going 55 miles per hour the truck showed a check engine light and the truck started to power down mid highway entrance and I had to try and pull off before it powered down completely. It took 5 minutes this time for the truck regain power enough to be restart fully. The check engine light is still on. It endangered both me and everyone behind me because I abruptly slowed down and risked not having anywhere to pull over on a highway. Every time it has failed I have been in the middle of a road, lane, highway/freeway. With no way to signal my truck has died and no way to move it. Police have not investigated this issue, no dealerships or shops have looked at this issue currently. The engine, powertrain, brakes, and electrical appear to be not functioning properly in these incidents but it is unknown of the root cause. There has been no other indication that this truck has had these issues or previous recalls for these incidents. This truck was bought from a dealership earlier this year without issue. The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated shortly afterwards. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the transmission failed to shift out of first gear. The message “Slow Down - Service Shifter” was displayed. The contact associated the failure with TSB: (23-029-22 Rev. A); and referenced an extended warranty coverage. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and produced DTC: U0645 - Lost Communication with Active Air Dam Module. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 137,700.

When driving, I get a prompt on my dash to switch to park and then desired gear. I get no response from my accelerator until I do so. This particularly happens when I’m slowing down and accelerating after a stop signs or traffic lights. Happens while in the middle of intersections. This happened about 7 times in the past month. Dealership said they couldn’t find a problem when I took it in. They did a transmission re-learn which I paid for and the issue happened twice since that appointment.

​SUMMARY OF ISSUE: Water intrusion from a defective factory rear window seal flooded the Radio Frequency (RF) Hub module, causing severe, dangerous network communication (CAN bus) failures while driving. The removed RF Hub has been retained by the owner and is available for physical inspection upon request. SAFETY RISKS: Power steering repeatedly seizes/locks up while driving. ​Vehicle completely stalls and freezes in active intersections and at highway speeds on I-95. ​Instrument panel illuminates with all warning lights ("Christmas tree" dash) and prompts driver to "Put Vehicle in Park and Put Back in Drive" while actively moving in traffic. ​Vehicle experiences complete power loss, creating a severe rear-end collision hazard. ​TIMELINE & MILEAGE: 60,328 mi (Dec 2022): Initial electrical glitches reported to dealer prior to 100k warranty expiration. ​92,733 mi (Sept 2024): Reported ongoing key fob loss, electrical anomalies, and TPMS drops. ​168,492 km (~104,696 mi): Scanned multiple CAN bus "U-codes" (documentation available). ​104,716 mi (Sept 22, 2025): Leaking rear window seal repaired by dealer. ​~114,000 mi: Worsening symptoms and total vehicle stall. ​DEALER FAILURE & DENIAL: When repairing the window seal, the dealer failed to inspect for interior water damage or check underlying electronics. They refused to open/inspect the RF Hub, claimed they could not reproduce the intermittent issue, and are attempting to blame an unrelated "star connector." The owner opened the RF Hub casing and photographed clear galvanic solder corrosion and water damage directly under the leak point. Component has not been inspected by police, insurance, or manufacturer reps. PRIOR SYMPTOMS: Progressive TPMS loss, "Key Fob Not Detected" while driving, throttle surges at stops, parasitic battery drain, and full dash light warnings—worsening with humidity and rain.

Pop up display indicates ABS failure, There exist already active recalls on 2019 Ram however according to Ram Customer Service my vehicle is not among current recalls. My issue is the same as my nephew. ‘Same truck, same year, . ABS failure , disables cruise control, 4 wheel drive, and says to have system serviced.

I was on the highway when the vehicle alerted me that shift was unavailable then the auto start/stop was unavailable then the airbags were unavailable then my FUEL and my MPH were not reading. My windshield wipers started all on their own and could not be turned off! And my EMERGENCY LIGHTS WERE INOP. I LOST POWER STEERING and was locked in gear! All while in morning rush hour traffic on the highway! The vehicle gave me a notification to get to my destination before turning it off or changing gears because it would not go back into gear. I got off the highway as safely as I could without EMERGENCY LIGHTS OR TURN SIGNALS and proceeded to a stop light. While slowing down I had no steering control. I pulled over and had to force the wheel to turn then I attempted to accelerate to move and had no power. So I was stuck. I had emergency services come and tow my vehicle to Chevrolet of Homewood at that point who is currently looking at it.

Driving down the road service eps light came on and went back off. Went to make a turn and the truck did not turn. The steering wheel would not turn

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM · ENGINE

019 Ram 1500 5.7L eTorque MGU (Motor Generator Unit) failed on 08/29/2025 at 62,105 miles. Vehicle died on road and would not restart, creating a safety hazard. Dealer confirmed battery was severely discharged due to MGU failure — alternator was not putting out voltage necessary to charge battery, resulting in failed MGU. Vehicle was inoperable for 109 consecutive days (08/29/2025 through 12/16/2025) due to Stellantis parts backorder with no ETA provided. MGU is covered under Federal Emission Warranty (8 years/80,000 miles) per FCA US LLC 2019 Ram 1500 Warranty Booklet Section 5.1B. Stellantis denied all warranty obligations and failed to respond to a formal $40,125.00 certified mail demand for consequential damages. ENGINE

The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while reversing and driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was shaking. The check engine warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the vehicle experienced rough idling and failed to exceed 30 MPH while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that the engine needed to be replaced. STEERING

The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 60 MPH, the message "power steering failure" was displayed, and the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The contact stated the failure was recurrent. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with complete power steering failure. Repairs were pending due to parts unavailability. The manufacturer was not made aware of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.

The truck went into park from drive on its own . The emergency brake was also activated after going into park. The shifter knob kept switching from drive into park every time I slowed down at a light or stop sign.

VISIBILITY/WIPER

My sun visors on both the driver and passenger side have fallen down numerous times. When they fall they end up dangling in front of my eyes (more so of course the driver's sun visor). In addition it is an instantaneous alarming moment and when in busy traffic and all of a sudden this suddenly happens and I cannot see it becomes dangerous. I have found out talking to my dealer and online that this is a very common problem on the 5th generation Ram 1500 pickups.

POWER TRAIN · ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

System/Component Malfunction: High-voltage hybrid powertrain system failure. Code P0DAF-00 (Hybrid EV Battery Cell Balancing Circuit) is present and locked in the Hybrid Control Processor (HCP). Vehicle is available for inspection. Safety Risk: Operating a vehicle with an unresolved high-voltage hybrid cell balancing defect poses an immediate safety risk. Cell imbalances can cause sudden loss of motive power at highway speeds, propulsion shutdown, or an increased risk of a thermal event in the high-voltage pack. The manufacturer (Stellantis/RAM Care) refuses to provide a written safety determination, yet the dealer instructed me to continue driving a compromised high-voltage system on public roads until the failure worsens. Dealer Confirmation & Inspection: Confirmed and reproduced by authorized dealer (Ron Tonkin RAM) across multiple visits: Feb 25, 2026 (RO 502329): Code P0DAF-00 present. Dealer performed a BPCM software flash, which failed to resolve the underlying fault. June 2026 (RO 504097): Held for 10 days. Technician documented: "Scanned codes and found code P0DAF-00- Hybrid EV Battery Cell Balancing Circuit present but code is stored (not active) and also not stored in PCM, only the HCP." Tech test-drove 97 miles but corporate engineering (STAR) rules prevent parts authorization until the code migrates from HCP to PCM as an active fault. Dealer explicitly instructed me to drive it until it triggers a hard failure. Warning Lamps & Symptoms: First appeared Feb 25, 2026, via a yellow Check Engine Light. The light intermittently cycles on/off as the computer stores the code, but the underlying high-voltage defect is completely un-repaired.

VISIBILITY/WIPER

Driver's side visor fails to stay in place in the ceiling when moving it from front windshield to door window, then after several movements, will fall out of place in the roof into the driver's view without warning obstructing view while driving or startling the driver which could cause an accident. The visor has been replaced once, from the same issue and is now having the same issue again. The visor is available for inspection and still has the issue. The dealer knows there is a problem and has given me a number to order a third visor. This all happens without warning and always while the vehicle is in motion.

STEERING

This is a 2019 Ram 1500 Classic 4x4 with a hemi engine. the power steering suddenly and with no warning stopped working when my wife was on a winding country road. There was no warning lights on the dash at all. She was unable to turn the steering wheel because the power assist stopped working. This caused her to go into the ditch, where she called me to come help her out of the ditch. I had a very hard time steering it home. We took it to the Ram dealership we bought it from, after we thought we found a recall on it. The Dealership ran our vin, and our truck was not on the recall? But the recall said 2019 Ram 1500? This could have killed someone!!! The Dealership, Parkway Chrysler Doge, Jeep, Ram in Dover Ohio was the dealership we took it to. They informed us, that the steering was shot, and it would take three months to get the steering rack, because of so many steering issues on these trucks. Why have you not stepped in to get this situation corrected?

STEERING · ELECTRICAL SYSTEM · LANE DEPARTURE

When driving the truck the power steering would go out and make the truck almost impossible to turn. This is dangerous when driving as you cannot turn, avoid a collision, etc. I've had vehicles without power steering, and this was like the truck is actively pulling against you when trying to turn. The dealership did a diagnostic and said the power steering rack (electronic) needs to be replaced completely as it's going out. I'm not sure if it's related, but I've had other issues before this where my lane assist and cruise control would flash while in use and all turn off while driving down the road as well. There was no obvious check engine light or codes for this, just the occasional shutting off of my systems and power steering while operating the vehicle.

For past nine months vehicle power steering intermittently stops working while operating vehicle. Inquired with dealer about NHTSA recall VB8 ... NHTSA 19V757000. Dealer indicates my vehicle VIN is not included in this recall. However, this is a manufacturing issue that has been identified in other 2019 RAM 1500. This problem is a serious safety risk--especially, not knowing the moment when the power steering will fail. This problem has been occurring intermittently for past nine months.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM · AIR BAGS

The passenger airbag in my 2019 RAM 1500 (VIN: [XXX] LP: [XXX]) is completely missing. The dashboard was cosmetically repaired to hide the absence, and the warning light was tampered with so no airbag/SRS alert appears. This was only discovered during a recent inspection; I had no prior warning. Inspection by an independent service center is scheduled and I can provide the vehicle for examination upon request. This creates a severe safety hazard, for years I've driven with no passenger airbag protection and false reassurance from a working dashboard. The issue was not disclosed by the selling dealer. I have photographic evidence and can provide all records upon request. Problem has not been addressed by the manufacturer, dealer, or police/insurance representatives yet. STEERING

The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 45 MPH through a curve in the road, the steering wheel became difficult to control, and the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The steering wheel remained in the direction that the steering wheel was turned. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

AIR BAGS

Airbag switch in seat was partially faulty, depending on drivers weight. Dealership pulled code and replaced the new battery with a new battery, then did the steering wheel clockspring, but the final outcome was the weight of the driver and the seat switch for the airbag. The truck is currently in the shop waiting for the seat airbag switch. I believe this to be a safety recall. POWER TRAIN

While coming to a stop or slowing down, truck shifts into neutral on its own without driver input. Truck then makes you press brake and shift back to drive.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL · SERVICE BRAKES

The ABS control module and Hydraulic Control module are faulty and available for inspection. My safety is at risk because the vehicle will go into a skid upon hard braking (ABS not fuctioning), the vehicle will spin tires upon acceleration (traction control inoperative). The above listed components have been determined faulty by both the dealership and an independent service center. The component is on national backorder (according to the dealership) due to how common this issue is. The ABS, traction control, and brake light stay illuminated as well as the dashboard "message center". I'm in disbelief of there not being a recall for something so dangerous. I travel for work and tow my travel trailer and now am unable to do so safely. The fact that the modules are on backorder is a testament to how common this issue is.

STEERING

Vehicle: 2019 Ram 1500 Mileage at Time of Incident: Approximately 88,000 miles The vehicle experienced an intermittent failure of the Electric Power Steering (EPS) system. While operating the vehicle, a "Power Steering Unavailable" warning message appeared, resulting in a loss of power steering assist and significantly increased steering effort. The condition occurred unexpectedly and created a safety risk by reducing the driver's ability to safely maneuver and control the vehicle, particularly during low-speed operation, turning movements, and emergency maneuvers. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Ram dealership (Lander's Dodge Chrysler Jeep Bossier City, LA.) Diagnostic testing identified Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) C2217, which the dealership stated indicates an internal failure of the Electric Power Steering system and/or steering rack assembly. The dealer recommended replacement of the rack and pinion assembly for $2,600 BUT the part was on back order and could take 4 months or more before the part comes in. I'm at a loss. The failed component is available for inspection upon request. The defect placed the driver and other motorists at risk because steering effort increased unexpectedly, reducing vehicle controllability. No prior collision or damage is known to have caused the failure. The dealership has confirmed the condition through diagnostic testing. Manufacturer inspection is UNKNOWN. Police involvement is UNKNOWN. Insurance inspection is UNKNOWN. Prior symptoms included an intermittent "Power Steering Unavailable" warning message. The exact date of the first occurrence is approximately 6 months ago, but after sitting overnight the message disappeared and there was no problem. It happens sporadically. Based on the diagnostic findings and dealer assessment, the apparent cause of the incident is an internal failure of the Electric Power Steering system associated with DTC C2217.

SEVERE SAFETY HAZARD: CASCADING ELECTRICAL FIRE RISK. My 2019 Ram 1500 suffered a catastrophic electrical failure while driving. The alternator's voltage regulator melted, overcharging the system and causing the battery to boil and vent toxic sulfuric acid fumes into the cabin, creating an immediate respiratory and fire hazard. This is the direct result of Manufacturer Defect XL1/XG1 (Rear Window Leak). I have physical dealer records proving Westgate Ram held this vehicle for 19 days in Aug 2022 to fix Water Leak Code 09H2OLEAK. They returned the vehicle claiming it was fixed, but I have geolocated photos showing the window leaking heavily just 17 days later. Because the leak was never resolved, water continuously entered the rear cabin, corroding the RF Hub and creating a parasitic drag that destroyed the electrical grid. CRITICAL NEGLIGENCE: On June 1, 2026, Stellantis Corporate (Case XXX) acknowledged the severity of the fire risk by immediately inquiring if Emergency Services had been contacted, yet subsequently refused to offer a safety tow. Furthermore, my phone number is now being rejected by their system; calls to their support line immediately fail or disconnect, leaving a fire-risk vehicle stranded at my residence with no recourse.
